Home: Holiday Decor in the Living Room

One of the things I have been looking forward to most about moving into our new home is decorating for the holidays. Eric celebrates Hanukkah & I celebrate Christmas so it has been fun to design a home with a fusion of them.

I grew up with a Mother whose spirit for decorating was vividly on display for any and all holidays. Having a new holiday to decorate for has only reinvigorated her spirit and we reap the benefits! Who knew all the Hanukkah and Christmas themed items one could find?

Her knack for decorating is ingrained in me and now that I have a fresh palette to design, my mind is running wild with ideas. This year is an interesting one being that we are still moving into our house and at the same time are trying to fill the space with holiday cheer. I am excited to grow our collection and style over the years, but I would say we are off to a pretty wonderful start.

The Living Room

We get the most use out of our living room in any home we have lived in. Being so used to the living room in our former condo being for entertaining, eating and working, our new space would most likely host the same activities. Keeping that in mind, I wanted the space to have a splash of holiday decor but not interrupt the cozy vibe we have worked hard to cultivate these last couple months. I would say we succeeded! (Though I am slightly biased..)

Garland: I combined two different garlands (holly & pine cones/fir) together with floral wire/tape then used 4 Command hooks to hold it in place. All the holiday decor is 50% off at Hobby Lobby all season so these were quite reasonable!

Mini Trees: Living in the mountains now, I have really taken to the look of Ponderosa Pine, Douglas Fir, and Juniper that surrounds us so I wanted to mimic that inside. These little trees are everywhere but my favorites have come from Target ($9.99!), World Market and Hobby Lobby.

Burlap: I have been wrapping everything in Burlap Ribbon from Michaels They have so many different widths and it is all 20% off if you download the app & show their coupon in-store or online!

Other: Diptyque Candles, Pendleton Throw, West Elm Serving Tray, & Target Jute Rug
