Home: Entryway of My Dreams
Ever since moving into our home in September
we have been avoiding the entryway. It is a huge, open space with green tile flooring that has been hoping for us to fill it, but I’ve had no clue what to do. Instead, we’ve ignored coming in the entry and have let the space fill the different utilitarian needs we’ve had for the last five months.
It began as a cardboard collection room, keeping all of the broken down moving/furniture boxes waiting to be recycled then transitioned into our leftover furniture haven while we were filling the other spaces in the house which most recently landed on the space we ‘hosted’ the holiday with my parents, being it was large enough for us all to eat 6 feet apart at separate tables. I took down holiday decorations two days and the space finally begged to be utilized. We had just created beautifully warm holiday memories and I couldn’t let it be avoided for any longer.
Thank goodness for World Market, coffee table books and
social media. I sought out all these different outlets to get inspiration, and have been pinning ideas along the way. We plan to replace the floors on the first floor of the house, but until that happens I needed to design with them in mind. Finding a happy medium between the tones that currently exist and the tones I hope to bring in. I want to be sure that we are able to keep each piece that we fill this beautiful space with for years to come, so while it has been tricky, looking at where we are at is quite fulfilling.

Ivory Arm Chair ($349) - World Market
Grey Braided Pouf ($56) - Wayfair
Brass & Clear Test Tube Vase ($16.99) - World Market
Velvet Pillow Covers ($30) - West Elm
Many of the pieces we were able to use from our previous home decor, to my husbands delight, but we did add a few things here and there. Eric has always wanted a coat tree and I have never been able to find one that I find attractive, so we have never owned on until now. We compromised on a hanging coat tree from CB2 (for under $30!) which we mounted to the wall and are in love. The hardware that it comes with is quite impressive and we’ve been able to hang 6 large winter jackets on it without batting an eye! I was also able to get the beautiful white vase from Target for $25.
The console table was an investment from two homes ago and it has actually traveled from an apartment in NYC to a condo in Chicago to a home in Oregon without a nick or scratch! We got it from West Elm and have been in love with it for the last five years.
