Home: The Little Things

Isn’t it fantastic how the smallest details can make the biggest difference?

A perfect example of this is in my office. The previous owners had bright blue curtains hanging on a black curtain rod in a teal blue room. (Pictured below) I immediately painted over the teal with a calming neutral, switched out the polyester curtains for velvet ones and the final step was to replace the curtain rod. The black didn’t necessarily clash with the space, but I felt antique bronze would be a little easier on the eyes.

I quickly realized that I wouldn’t be able to just pull down the curtain rod but would also have to demo the built in shelf off the wall as it was standing in the way of one of the posts from the previous rod. After smashing it off the wall, patching holes, reapplying the spray wall texture and painting over the last bits of teal, the curtain rod was ready to be hung. Gotta love how a simple curtain rod switch turned into demo, patching and painting a whole other wall!
