Home: We Took The Plunge - Wallpaper Edition
I was a firm believer that wallpaper only came in hideous yellow floral patterns. In short, I’ve hated it. Why would anyone waste their time piecing together paper with glue on the back just to hang something they would immediately regret? Well it turns out I was completely and utterly wrong.
When PhotoWall Sweden reached out to do a collaboration, I was intrigued and decided to take a look into their selection of wallpaper. First of all, there are what feels like hundreds of thousand of patterns and styles to choose from. To my surprise I couldn’t stop favoriting different options on their website and ended up having to have my partner narrow down my 35 options to a few. (Use code zeegustafson25 for 25% your order between now and the end of May!)
Just browsing on the website got me extremely excited to overhaul the guest bedroom in our home. It started off as a catch-all room for our leftover furniture that didn’t make the cut in the rest of the house, but now? It is a chic oasis meant to calm and soothe whoever stays in the space.
The print we ended up choosing was the Premium Watercolour - Paynes Grey Item number: e314456 which was the perfect mix between eye catching and soothing. The paper arrived three days after I placed the order and included is a powder to mix with water to create the paste to hang. Each section was labeled beautifully and the website was extremely helpful in giving guidance on measuring the space.
For installation they have a handy video to get you started and the only bump we ran into was mixing the paste. We thought it needed to be thinner than it was, but once we got the consistency right, it was smooth sailing! To be honest this isn’t our last time working with wallpaper, but this will be my last time installing it myself. Wallpapering is an absolute art and skill, one which I do not have!
I brought the paper with me to Sherwin Williams to decide what color to paint the other walls. We landed on SW Sky High and it turned out to be a beautiful match! With a few additions like mounted lamps and some cozy bedding, this room is ready to calm and relax any guest who comes to stay. I mean just take a look at the before photos!
